Shea Stadium (10.16.83: Jets vs. Dolphins; Att: 58,615) Pictures 1-5 of 21

Directed from the sister site www.baseball-fever.com message board, here are personal photos that I took of Shea Stadium during the 10.16.83 Jets game vs. the Dolphins.

Couple of things stand out in that at the top of the stadium, there were tan colored tarps that were placed behind the last row to keep out the buffeting cold air from Flushing Bay. These tarps were not in place during baseball season. I’ve not been to any of the Mets post-season baseball games from the 1980’s to last year, so I don’t know if the NYC Parks Department still does that for October baseball games.

The other is the remants of the baseball diamond on the field. This was the 3rd football game of the season, so it was played on the full football field layout including endzone stands (I’ll explain the details of that and the court order on another thread).

nice pics. I wish I got to see the Jets play at Shea. It's really sad to see teams called the "NEW YORK" Jets and the "NEW YORK" Giants playing in New Jersey.
