Is this a make or break year for Michael Vick? He's had five full seasons of NFL experience and he seems to be moving in the wrong direction.

If Vick doesn't have his game together by the end of this year will he be considered a bust?

Finally, someone else posts in this forum! I thought I was talking to myself for a minute.

If Vick had a career ending injury in the 1st series of tonight's preseason game, fans here in Atlanta still wouldn't consider him a bust. In Atlanta, Vick is a god, kids want to be like him, adults wish they could be him, and broke people wish they could have the money he makes. I think this year he will do big things, because he's on the same page with his recievers and he has a much improved offensive line.

I think there's extra pressure on Vick to win this year. He was supposed to be a one-of-a-kind QB, and had five years to prove it. Now, all of a sudden, there is another in Vince Young, and he's got some spotlight competition. Vick is making a ton of money, but for what? He needs to step it up another notch or two, and carry that team on his back all the way. He certainly has the talent to do it, and now he's got some help. Maybe if they can get Porter or Lelie or Charles Rogers than Mike can unleash the beast within. He hasn't ever really had any decent recievers to chuck the ball to, so teams could look for the run alot more. He needs a deep threat or two to thin out the opposing defense, then he can pick and choose what he wants to do with them. I still think he can win multiple MVP awards and Super Bowl rings. He's one of my favorites, because he's got a little bit of Barry Sanders in him.

It seems that every season people say "this is the season that Vick breaks out" and each year he fails to deliver. He can be an exciting player but he is terribly overhyped...As soon as someone mentions that he's not a very good passing QB the reply tends to be "he's got one of the strongest arms in the league", which is all well and good but it seems he'd struggle to hit the side of a barn.

Personally I don't see Vick having a breakout year per se, more like each year he'll do what he has been doing and getting praised by every analyst out there.

Hasn't he proven himself to be a very talented quarterback yet? He did make the NFC title game 2 years ago with a team of nobodies. Last year was I'm sure just a fluke. Look at the yardage and turnover numbers. It was an anomaly. Vick is far more talented than many other successful quarterbacks. Maybe they should switch him to receiver or DB or something.

I can say this: The falcons would be a fairly worse team without Michael Vick and average QB instead.

He does a lot for the team that you can't put in numbers. An average QB would have to take a sack while Vick can scramble and throw the ball away. 2007 is his make or break year though.

If I were the Falcons' GM, Vick would not be playing QB for my team any more. I'm not sure what I'd do with him, but he wouldn't be playing QB.

Why exactly would Vick be benched? So you're honoring a $130 million contract by sitting him on the bench?

I just really hope Vick matures eventually and doesn't become like Kordell Stewart. :crossfingers:

I don't think he'll fall off of the face of the earth, Vick has had a lot of pressure on him since that playoff season. I'm not trying to discredit him for his mistakes, but everybody has expected him to lead the team to the Super Bowl when his wideouts can't even catch the football.

Did I ever say he would be sitting on the bench? He's too talented to do that. This team could be very good with Schaub at QB and Vick as a HB/WR combo type. Or he could be traded. But I feel like his clock has run out as Atlanta's starting QB.

Funnily enough my brother and I were talking about the very same thing. If they were to use Vick as a HB/WR as you suggest or just as a HB, there could be alot of plays designed that start of with Schaub handing the ball to Vick who then passes the ball himself. It could be one of the more confusing offenses to defend against and one of the most exciting offenses to watch.

My mistake. I guess I just can visualize Mike Vick on any team other than the Falcons. He is a great athlete, but I don't think any team would compromise his skills by placing him at a HB/WR position

Seeing Vick at a HB/WR is every fan's dream, but the coaches won't ever do it. If I was the head coach of the Falcons I'd employ that system every once in a while...but I'm not.

Ah, that's what NFL Head Coach is for.
