Beating a likely Super Bowl contender that handily has to bode well for the Pats. Also, I wonder if any team has ever opened its season by beating two teams that made the playoffs in the previous year by the same score.

Once again it was the new guys who made all the difference, with today being Sammy Morris' breakout game.

I think he's more of a threat to other teams than Maroney, he's larger and more experienced and has shown can get tough yards against stifling defenses...Coach Belicheck wanted him, they went out and got him.

Turnovers hurt a team, just ask Cleveland. Despite playing well they couldn't keep things together for too long, giving up interceptions and later a fumble that cost them whatever momentum they had...The 34-17 score doesn't tell the whole story but a win is a win regardless.
Dante' Stalworth had his breakout game with the Patriots with 65 yards receiving and a 12 yard rush(a reverse play, nicely done!)
Ben Watson put up his best game with the Patriots with 2 TDs and 107 yards receiving.
Sammy Morris rushed for 102 yards once again proving that he was one of the best offseason acquisitions the Pats made...

The battle of the unbeatens down in "Big D" ends with the Patriots winning big 48-27 but it was costly- Ben Watson and Sammy Morris were hurt. The team showed why they made so many offseason receiver acquisitions with Wes Welker and Dante' Stallworth each receiving over 120 yards and a touchdown.
This was the first time since week 3 that the team actually trailed at any point in the game after their first possession when they trailed 24-21 midway through the third quarter, but that was short lived as the Patriots quickly got the points back with a TD to put them up for good 28-24...

•Patriots scored their highest point total in 23 years since scoring 50 against the Colts in a 50-17 win back on 11/18/84. They also gave up its most points of the season and trailed in the 2nd half for the
first time all year.
•The Patriots are scoring 38.3 pts/game and are giving up 15.3 pts/game.
•Tom Brady was 31-of-46 for 388 yards and his career-high 5 TDs tied a *franchise record and gave him an NFL record with at least 3 TDs in each of the first 6 games of the season. He has an NFL-best 21 TD passes so far and 168 career TD passes. He was also sacked as many times (3) as he'd been all season.
*Brady was the 1st QB to throw 5 TDs in a game since Steve Grogan did it on 9/9/79. Vito “Babe” Parilli also threw 5 TDs in a game for the Patriots on 11/15/64 and on 10/15/67.
•The ball was spread around very well again. It was the 2nd time this year that the Patriots had 7 receivers to have at least 1 reception. In 6 games Brady has spread the ball around: 8 receivers (3 games), 7 receivers ( 2 games )and 6 receivers (1 game).
•Wes Welker caught 11 passes for a career-high 124 yards and 2 TDs.
•Donte’Stallworth's 69-yd TD catch in the 4th quarter was the longest TD completion for the Patriots since Troy Brown had an 82-yd TD catch on 10/19/03 in OT in Miami.
•With his 50 rushing yds today, Kevin Faulk moved into 10th place on the Patriots’ all-time rushing list, passing Craig James’s total of 2,469 yards from 1984-88. Faulk finished the game with 2,498 rushing yds for the Patriots.
•Rodney Harrison sacked Tony Romo for an 11-yd loss on 3rd down in the 1st quarter. The sack raised Harrison’s career total to 29.5 sacks, which is the highest in NFL history for a defensive back dating to when sacks became an official statistic in 1982.
Next game: 10/21 @ Miami (0-6)

That's a sad footnote that shows how bad New England has been for running backs over the years...either they put up one, two, or three good years and suffer a major injury, get traded, become free agents, or they stick around just to play a specialty position...

His two TD passes to Randy Moss was the highest number of TD catches by a receiver in over 20 years, and puts Moss on pace to shatter the current record of 13(as far as I can tell)- it's kinda sad since they have had some great receivers over their 49 year history.
Matt Cassel threw his second career interception and was yanked in favor of Matt Gutierrez...that doesn't bode well for Cassel considering how well Gutierrez played during the preseason.

52-7 victory over the Washington Redskins...big defense with big offense makes for a huge victory.
Brady scored two rushing TDs and Matt Cassel rushed for a third. Moss scored another TD to up his total on the year to 11, one shy of the team's record of 12 TD catches by a receiver.
Only thing left to sum the game up is this: BRING ON THE COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!

What a great team win! The game might not have lived up to all the hype in the 1st half but it got going in the 4th quarter when it mattered most. It was the first time all year that the offense and defense had to really make some key plays when it counted to help get a win and help keep them undefeated.
The team showed a lot of poise and character and never looked rattled overcoming adversity, some self-inflicted, but also had some very questionable calls by the officials.
•Brady throws 2 4th quarter TD (in 4 min) to overcome a 10 pt deficit and outscored the Colts 17-7 in the 2nd half. He finished 21-32 for 255 yds, 3 TD & 2 Int. 153 of his 255 yds came in the 4th quarter.
•Patriots converted 7-12 3rd-downs, the Colts were 5-12.
•Red Zone offense: Pats were 3-4 while Indy was 1-3.
•KO returns: Patriots had 5 returns for 122 yds.
•Patriots had 10 penalties for a franchise-record of 146 yds.
•Colts didn't have an answer to stop Moss, who had 9 catches for 145 yds and 1 TD.
We might have a rematch with the Colts at our place come January. So if the Patriots and Colts have identical records, we get the tiebreaker. We get a bye next week and need to work on correcting the team's weaknesses that were exposed by the Colts.

And someone ought to give those refs glasses as those pass interference "penalties" were blatantly NOT penalties!!!

There is a such thing as offensive pass interference, right? Just making sure, because I could've sworn I saw Dallas Clark make two tackles on Pats DBs, one that was called a pass interference on New England.
This game also looked eerily similar to the BC-Virginia Tech game a week and a half ago. Best team in a league takes on their top competition, trailing by ten late in the fourth quarter, a QB wearing #12 scores two quick touchdowns without relying on any one receiver, and eventually hits the running back for the game-winner.

Yep, there sure is offensive pass interference. On one of the plays in question they actually flagged the defenseive back for not turning despite the fact that he was turned and being blocked by the receiver.

56-10 threshing of the Bills tonight. Six TDs in seven possessions, the only punt was a gimme to let Buffalo run out the clock as it was just 4th and inches and only a few minutes left in the game.
Brady broke the team's career TD pass record- in only his eighth season! With at least eight more good years left(probably more like 10) I think it's safe to say that there won't be any QB breaking his final record for a long, long, long time.
Moss broke the TD reception record, not bad for a guy who was hated by most people the last couple of years.
You know things are going your way when your leading and second leading rushers are your fullback and third string running back- and doing it against the first string defense to boot!

31-28 win over the Eagles tonight, it wasn't pretty but it was a win none the less.
Moss didn't have a TD catch tonight and was a nonfactor for most of the game due to heavy protection- but Gafney, Welker, Stalworth, and Watson stepped up making his lack of production mute and showing that he alone isn't why they are such a good team.
It was a passing game all night with the QBs throwing outstanding passes but three interceptions by the Patriots were the deciding factor- one to start off the game that was returned for a TD, one to end a late Eagles drive giving the Patriots a chance to run down the clock to almost nothing, and another that gave the ball back to the Patriots with less than 30 seconds on the clock.
A shame that it had to end, but with only one TD tonight Tom Brady ended his record streak of starting the year with at least three TDs in a game at 10 games.

27-24 last minute victory over the Ravens. Brady had two more TDs dropping the number of TDs needed to break Peyton Manning's single season record to 9.
Baltimore shot themselves in the foot(no pun intended) by making penalties and adding yardage and retries onto the Patriots' final drive...they had the Pats on the ropes and just couldn't get the winning blow in.

Still perfect, but another close one. 1st time the Patriots are 12-0 in franchise history and only the 6th team in NFL history to do so. The offense and especially the defense made the plays at the right time. Brady's game-winning TD put him at 41 TDs for the season as he joins Peyton Manning, Dan Marino and Kurt Warner as the only QBs who have thrown for at least 40 TDs in a season.

The weather was nasty, but the Patriots found a way to win regardless of the conditions. The Patriots turned to the running game with Maroney with a career-high 26 carries, 104 rushing yds and scored a TD. It was just the 4th time this year that a Pats RB had a 100+ yd rusher. Brady didn't look too sharp at all. The defense played well when the Jets were in the Red Zone (4x) and only gave up a FG.
Hopefully the weather will be better next week and the Patriots can break Miami's 1-game win streak.

A 28-7 win today to bring them to 15-0 breaking the 35 year old record held by the '72 Dolphins and also tying their own record for consecutive regular season wins at 18 straight. Their 15th win also ties the single season record held by the '04 Steelers, '98 Vikings, '85 Bears, and the '84 49ers
Brady and Moss are both just TDs from breaking the single season TD record(Moss for receivers, Brady for passers). Welker broke Troy Brown's six year old record for receptions in a season when he caught his 102nd pass.

In today's game...
Brady finished 18-33 for 215 yds, 2 TDs and 2 INT bring his season stats to 48-8 as for as TD-to-INT. Brady connected on 14-18 passes in the 1st half and just 4-15 in the lackluster 2nd half. It was the
1st time all season that the Patriots were shutout in the 2nd half.
Maroney had another back-to-back 100+ yd game rushing for a career-high 156 yds on 11 carries (11.1 yds) and 1 TD (59 yds). His 11.1 yards per carry is the highest by a Patriots player (who has run the ball at least 10 times) since Sam Cunningham averaged 11.4 yards per carry (125 yards on 11 rushes) at Buffalo on Oct. 20, 1974. His 59 yd TD was the longest run by a Patriots player since 1998, when Sedrick Shaw busted a 71 yd run in the last game of the 1998 season against the NY Jets on 12/27/98.
Besides the 15-0 perfect mark, the Patriots tied /broke several other records today...
-They tied their NFL record of 18 consecutive regular-season wins set in 2003-04.
-They broke the league mark of 70 TDs in a season by the 1984 Dolphins. The Patriots have scored 71 TDs (48 passing, 15 rushing and 8 on returns).
-The Patriots have outscored their opponents by a net total of 312 points this season (551 points scored, 239 points allowed). The point differential of +312 stands as the highest single-season total in NFL history, topping the +292 recorded by the 1942 Chicago Bears (376 points scored, 84 points allowed in an 11-game season).
-They swept their division this season for the first time ever in franchise history.
-The Patriots have set a new franchise record for total net yards in a single season, topping the previous mark of 5,965 total net yards, set in 1978.
-They have scored 551 pts and are just 6 pts shy of breaking the points scored total mark of 556 pts, which Minnesota set in 1998.
-The offense set a new franchise record for most 1st downs in a season. After today's game, they now have 366 for the year. The previous high was 48 1st downs, set in 1994.
-The Patriots defense have allowed just 239 pts this season, tying them with the Tampa Bay for the fewest points allowed in the NFL.
-Wes Welker has totaled 101 receptions on the season, tying Troy Brown's 2001 total for the Patriots franchise record.
I really believe this team will go 19-0 and will probably be the only team, maybe ever, to obtain something as special as this seaon. :goteam:

31-20 win over the Jaguars in the Divisional round of the playoffs, the Pats' 13th straight home playoff win.
They held Jacksonville's defense in check the whole game by mixing up their passes and runs(actually have a running game- who knew!). Brady set the new mark for completion percentage by only having two passes that were incomplete(drops, but easily catchable).
Next up is the winner of the Colts/Chargers game, two teams that have fallen to the Patriots already this year.
