Now that he's retired, will Marshall Faulk be an "automatic" inductee?

I say of course given his total yards from scrimmage and how he stepped up in 1999 to help the team to the SB.

Not saying he needed it, but Faulk is clearly the top retiring candidate of 2006. He missed Rice, Favre and Emmitt, so first-year election is a lock.

I remember (vaguely) being absolutly terrified of him during the 2001 season.

He was the most dangerous player on the Rams during their 3 year run. He was a threat receiving and running and lets not forget his MVP season in 2000.

Even before then he was the most dangerous running back in the league. He was the reason Indy made the playoffs in '95 and '96 and were only a breath away from the Super Bowl...

There is no good argument for excluding him

I'm going with conventional wisdom here and say, umm .... yes, without a doubt! He was the most dominant player in the game for several years and lead the Rams to two Superbowls.
