Is Vince Young the next Steve McNair? Better? Or is he a bust, and will follow the path blazed by Ryan Leaf? He led the Texas Longhorns to the national title last season, and in dramatic fashion to boot. Some people have said his release is too wacky to be successful in the pros, while others have dismissed that notion and expect him to be a Michael Vick Deluxe. What's your take?

Time will tell if his "6" Wonderlick will prove to overcome his athletic talent. He's a great player but I've heard about so many flaws in what he does, I wonder just how good he could be if he positioned his feet properly and/or was a football-smart player.

I don't think there's any doubt whether he's a smart football player, just maybe not a smart guy overall. What he did to USC in the National Championship proves he can get it done on the field with his pure football talent. Personally, I don't think the Wonderlick is a very good measuring stick of NFL talent. I think Young will thrive once he learns the ins-and-outs of the pros (in a year or two). His legs will make him a superstar, not his arm.

Truthfully, the guy has bust written all over him. But really only time will tell.

I have to agree with pretty much everyone else here, Young looks like he has BUST emblazoned on the back of his jersey.
He does have a few things going in his favor. Billy Volek should be a serviceable NFL quarterback for as long as the Titans need, giving offensive coordinator Norm Chow plenty of time to work one-on-one with Young.
I'm not sure that is going to help. Young did score a 6 on the Wonderlic test. He ran a remedial offense at the University of Texas. Even with all the physical skills in the world, I don't see how he's ever going to read a defense. Can you say interception machine?
I don't think Leinart is helping himself any by holding out either. But he has a history of making bad career decisions. Had he declared for the draft in 2005, he would have been the consensus No. 1 overall pick. Instead he wanted to come back for a 5th year at college -- in which he took one class and basically just played football and partied. And look how far he dropped in the 2006 draft. Now he's holding out because he wants the money he would have got last year. Isn't going to happen.
Meanwhile Jay Cutler is already 2nd on the Broncos depth chart and seems to have a better arm than either Young or Leinart. I think with Denver's offensive line and talent at running back and wide receiver that Cutler could take over in week 1 and the Broncos could still win 10 or 11 games this year. He seems to be the best of this quarterback class.
Young and Leinart are already messing up. This could be like the 1999 Draft when the 3rd and 4th quarterbacks chosen turned out to be by far the best. Anybody know where Tim Couch or Akili Smith are these days? Selling insurance?

Hold on on Vince. He's certainly not a brilliant player. It will take him a LONG time to get acclimated to the NFL. He's talented enough that he should look like a rambling fool out there running around avoiding tackles but not knowing what to do. He's played one game. Don't judge him yet. If he ever learns the playbook, and that may take 2 or 3 years, he should be pretty good.
Have patience in Nashville.
Whilst his numbers haven't been all that spectacular and the rest of the team has been as bad as expected, Vince has looked ok in times when he's not forced to play in the pocket...His score against Indy this past week was reminiscent of his time at Texas.
Whether he's a bust or not, I feel it's way to early to tell and he'll probably take the longest time to prove whether he's a serviceable NFL player of all the QB's from this years draft class.
Here is a little article about the maturation process of Vince Young and how much he has improved throughout this season.

As of now Yound is 6-2 as a starter and has resurrected a dire season down in Tennessee.
I must admit he has been quite impressive thus far this year. Lets see if it can last into next year and subsequent seasons when team get more time to scout him.

I think he is deserving of ROY.
I think he is deserving of ROY.
Well he has certainly had the biggest impact on his teams fortunes than any other rookie that I can see.
